About Delft University of Technology

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is a multifaceted institution offering education and research in the technical sciences at an internationally recognized level. TU Delft comprises eight faculties, unique laboratories, research institutes and schools, and is a participant of the IGD-TP.

Research at the faculty of 3mE (Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering) covers many fields, ranging from large-scale energy storage, medical instruments, control technology and robotics to smart materials, nanoscale structures, safe transport and autonomous boats. The research focuses on the design, manufacture, application and modification of products, materials, processes and mechanical devices and is a key component of many and extremely diverse fields of activity: energy, environment, food supplies, housing, water, transport, security and healthcare, to name but a few.

Role in the Project

The role of TU Delft related to the Blue Harvesting project implies the design of the collector and discharge systems through modeling of the fluid and sediment flows and validation of these models through laboratory experiments. Furthermore, TU Delft will  coordinate the Blue Harvesting consortium and be the link between the EIT and the partners.

EIT RawMaterials - Connecting matters

This project has received funding from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, EIT Raw Materials under Project Agreement 18138.

The Blue Harvesting project spans three years, running from April 1st, 2019 to December 31st, 2022.
