About Jakobs University Bremen

Jacobs University is a research-oriented, state-accredited private university with a broad portfolio of pre-degree, undergraduate and graduate study programs from the natural and social sciences, engineering and economics.  In 2019, 1040 students (30 % PhD students) from 105 countries are enrolled at the university in 15 Bachelor- and 9 graduate programs. 106 professors teach classes. Research staff is 198 members. The institution offers study exchange programs in conjunction with a total of 26 international partners. Ocean sciences are a dominant focus area of Jacobs University.

Role in the Project

The role of  Jacobs University related to the Blue Harvesting project includes the investigations of mining plumes on the environment, environmental monitoring and consulting on the design of the harvester.

This project has received funding from the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, EIT Raw Materials under Project Agreement 18138. 

The Blue Harvesting project spans three years, running from April 1st, 2019 to December 31st, 2022.
